There was plenty of interest today (September 13) when people were offered the opportunity to try out an E bike.

The Sustainable Frome group supported the event, and scores of people turned up in the Cheese & Grain car park.

East Mendip Green Party offered the bike trial promising that "Once you have tried one you won't want to go back. You can do shopping with panniers on an E bike and won't need a car for anything in or around Frome. This is part of our Climate Emergency programme. Come and have a go. "

Frome Town Council is a big supporter of the bikes.

The council has a commitment to cycling per se, for good for health and because they offer a source of sustainable transport.

However on their web site they recognise that many people are put off using a bicycle in Frome because of the hills.

The town now has a couple of electric power assist bicycles (ebikes) available for residents to hire. The electric assistance helps to reduce the strain of cycling up hills and makes cycling more fun.

For more info or help booking a bike via Frome Town Council email [email protected] or call 01373 465757.
