A local pet owner, who had to have his beloved cat put down, has expressed his heartfelt thanks after the local vets sent him a small keepsake afterwards.

It was an unusual and sensitive lock of his pet's hair and he was genuinely moved by their consideration.

Adrian Hill from Mendip Living Magazine was really touched when, following the death of his cat, he was sent the small momento of his pet along with a card.

Adrian explained: " It's never easy having to say goodbye to a much loved pet and for me, one of the most heartbreaking decisions recently as I said goodbye to my feline daughter of 17 years (Jonsey Cat)

"A constant companion who loved cake, more than cat food and cuddles galore. She really was a character. July this year her health was fading fast and I knew a visit to Frome Veterinary centre on Berkeley Road, would probably be her last.

" I met Rachel Webb at the centre that afternoon who knew as well as I did that her time had come to an end. Fighting back the tears and tissues at hand we agreed it was time to say goodbye. Rachel was simply amazing that afternoon and really gave such words of comfort. Remember the good times, which really helped me.

"Fast forward a few weeks and to my absolute surprise I received two tiny paw prints and a locket of fluff in a little bottle. Something I wasn't expecting, but a lovely keepsake.

"Thank you so very much to Rachel and the team at Berkeley Road. It's the little touches in life that mean so much, here in our wonderful town of Frome."
