McColl's - which has a branch on Vallis Way in Frome - is saved by Morrisons
McColl's has a network of 1265 convenience stores and newsagents across England, Scotland and Wales. Over nine hundred are convenience stores - while it runs over 400 newsagents.
The company also previously managed what is now the Spar on Rodden Road.
Morrisons originally bid for the chain, which announced last week it was about to go into administration, but then a separate bid came in from the billionaire Issa brothers who own Asda.
But today (May 9) it was announced that Morrisons will take on 1,100 of McColl's shops, along with two pension schemes which have more than 2,000 members.
On Friday when McColl's called in administrators the store on Vallis Way immediately stopped selling lottery tickets and offering Pay Point transactions as all its credit was suspended. The company started with one Scottish store in 190, employs around 116,000 staff
