Frome's Toe Jam Rollerskating - who usually run the sessions in the Cheese & Grain - will becoming roller-skating waiters and waitresses in nearby Trowbridge when a brand new drive-in cinema opens there from 7-9 August.

The roller skaters will be serving up the hot dogs, popcorn and chilled drinks as people park up at Innox Mills by Trowbridge station.

The team - who won't all be working at the same time - will be on hand to marshall and serve at the new venue which will feature eleven

popular movies shown on a supersized 60 sq m LED screen, with sound broadcast via hi-tech in-car speakers.

It is a new venture for the Toe Jam team with organiser Nigel McClachlan telling Nub News : " I run the Frome roller disco as a CIC at the Cheese and Grain every Wednesday. Hopefully we will be able to restart our sessions later in the year. "

Innox Mills Director Jonathan Dean said: "Drive-in cinemas are popping up around the country this summer and their popularity shows that people want to take part in big events, but are concerned about social distancing, so watching great films on the big screen from the comfort and safety of your own car is really appealing."

Cinema Retrow will be a contactless event, with tickets bought online, cars checked in via number plate recognition and food and drink pre-ordered online or via a smartphone app.

"Cinema Retrow is a taster of things to come at Innox Mills and we hope to eventually open a permanent, independent cinema here," added Jonathan.

Cinema Retrow's charity partner Wiltshire Air Ambulance is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year and all of the charity's pilots and paramedics have been given free tickets to the event as a thank you for their life-saving work.

Wiltshire Air Ambulance Fundraising Manager Des Regan said: "We're very grateful that Cinema Retrow has chosen to support the lifesaving work of Wiltshire Air Ambulance. The drive-in events at Innox Mills in Trowbridge will be a brilliant opportunity for people to go out and enjoy the cinema again at a safe social distance.I'm sure it will prove extremely popular with the people of Wiltshire."
