To mark the digital home entertainment release of SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE, the Museum of Youth Culture has teamed up with Sony Pictures Home Entertainment for the nationwide 'GROWN UP IN A FRIENDLY NEIGHBOURHOOD' competition, which invites people across the country to submit photographs, memories and stories that celebrate their local community.
Founded in 2015, the Museum of Youth Culture is dedicated to the styles, sounds and social movements innovated by young Brits over the last 100 years. At the heart of the Museum's activity sits the 'Grown Up in Britain' collection, a diverse social history archive of photographs, objects and stories related to the everyday experience of being young, crowdsourced from thousands of submissions from members of the public.
The Museum of Youth Culture champions the impact of youth on modern society and celebrates our shared youth culture history, all while offering a broad and inclusive look at 'growing up' in all its many forms. From first jobs to first loves, from summer holidays to school classrooms, the collection covers everything from the much-cherished possessions to the fashion and music trends that have shaped youth culture across the generations.
The 'Grown up in a Friendly Neighbourhood' competition draws inspiration from the integral roles that photography, community and the trials and tribulations of being a teenager have played in Spider-Man stories ever since 'professional wallflower' Peter Parker was bitten by a radioactive spider in 1962.
Every Spider-Man needs a friendly neighbourhood, be that Peter Parker's Queens, or Miles Morales's Brooklyn – the latter brought to vivid life in the Spider-Verse films. It's that sense of heritage, neighbourhood and community that is at the heart of Miles's identity and is the source of his strength as he faces new, multiversal challenges in SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE.
We're all shaped by our surroundings. Share your 'Friendly Neighbourhood' before 31st August to be in with a chance of winning an awesome Sony tech bundle worth over £1000, including a ZV-1F Sony Vlog Camera, Sony wf-l900 Linkbuds and a Sony XE200 Wireless Speaker. The winning entry will also be added to the Museum of Youth Culture's archives and become part of history.
The competition ends at 12am on 31st August. Open to UK entrants only. T&Cs apply.
