Frome Medical Practice has recently welcomed three new GPs to the team, including one who has relocated from New Zealand to work in the town. The three new members of the GP team are Dr Tim Rigg, Dr Georgina Kirby, and Dr Jess Rutherford.

Dr Tim Rigg trained in the UK but spent several years working in Australia and New Zealand. He had been working alongside the Health Connections Team remotely for some time, so he could implement their pioneering model of healthcare in the community he was working in at the time. Tim said, "I came to visit Frome this summer and met with Dr Kingston and was persuaded to make the move back to the UK, which will give me the chance to really understand how things are done here in Frome. I am really looking forward to working with the team and hope to bring my experience from an overseas healthcare setting to add a global flavour to a world class medical model."

Dr Georgie Kirby has previously worked in specialities at some of the bigger hospitals in the area, Southmead in Bristol and the Royal United in Bath, before completing her GP training. Georgie said, "I was attracted to working at Frome Medical Practice having previously enjoyed my time here during my GP training. I particularly like the eco focus of the practice and am looking forward to being able to cycle and walk to work. I'm also enjoying being part of the wider Frome community and am volunteering with local community groups, including Frome Families for the Future, which is a family focused climate action group."

Dr Jess Rutherford trained in Brighton before working as a junior doctor and GP in Liverpool. Jess said, "The move south to be closer to family means I am now looking forward to getting to know Frome and all of our patients. I have already been made to feel very welcome."

Practice manager, Karen Creffield, said "At a time when it's becoming increasingly difficult to recruit GPs, we are delighted to welcome Jess, Georgie and Tim to the team. Their varying backgrounds and previous experience will be really valuable and we feel very privileged they've chosen to join us. We are still actively recruiting GPs to the practice, even though we've three new doctors in the team, and would welcome contact from anyone looking to move to the area."
