In a new initiative, Frome College have been inviting primary and middle schools from the local area to visit the Science department, where pupils can see the facilities on offer and participate in experimental taster sessions.

Year 4 pupils from Hayesdown, Vallis and Nunney enjoyed activities such as watching the Bunsen burner turn different colours depending on chemicals used, chromatography (ink colour separation) and looking at soundwaves when speaking into a microphone.

Year 6 pupils from Oakfield Academy put their detective hats on for CSI-themed experiments, as they investigated the 'break in' of the Principal's office. It was shocking who committed the crime! A good time was had by all as they analysed mysterious chemicals, fingerprints, blood spatters and more!

Thank you to the Sixth Form helpers who have guided these activities. Frome College are looking forward to welcoming groups from other schools throughout the year for more fun science.
