Frome town centre has had another "creative and colourful boost" with a vibrant new mural in Westway Shopping Centre.   

The mural, which can be found on the wall of The Cutting Bar, is a "striking depiction of the river and wildlife", symbolising the "importance of the natural world alongside the community of Frome".  

The project is a partnership between Frome Town Council and Westway Shopping Centre, which has recently undergone renovations.

It is part of Frome Town Council's commitment to improving the town centre.

Alongside working with the county council to tackle issues such as bin collections, and having a dedicated town centre ranger, FTC has recently implemented street cleaning and weeding improvements.  

Cllr Nick Dove said: "We are really pleased to see this mural come to life as part of our ongoing commitment to brighten and enrich the town centre.

"It's a great example of how art can transform public spaces, and we're proud to partner with Westway Shopping Centre to make this a reality.

"This artwork brings more colour to an already popular shopping centre and celebrates Frome's connection to its rural surroundings and the river.

"This is just the start of our plan to improve the look and cleanliness of Frome's town centre and support our aim of attracting more people to visit and stay in our beautiful town." 

Chris Petrie from Maybrook, Landlords of the shopping centre said, "We've had a really positive response to our recent refresh and this mural will bring another welcome feature to the Westway Centre and will be enjoyed for many years to come."  

Charlotte Macmillan-Scott, the talented artist behind the design, is known for her previous work including a mural by the Silk Mill.

Working with her assistant, Illustrator Gus Scott from Makers' Yard in Frome, they have transformed the wall into an eye-catching artwork that showcases the importance of valuing our local environment.

The funding for the mural was secured through the Rural England Prosperity Fund, which supports initiatives that promote economic growth and improve the local environment in rural communities.
