In her regular column for Nub News the hard-working Frome Mayor has been visiting local shops, is grateful for some news about The Retreat and has been taking part in a great tree initiative.

Cllr Anita Collier writes:

My walkabout last week took me, first of all, to visit the Hunting Raven pop up shop at the Silk Mill where they're displaying their enormous range of books with an opportunity to buy early for Christmas. I met Dicken Moore on the way in, who looks after the Silk Mill with his parents, Damon and Kate and he's delighted to see the gallery back open to the public. I chatted to Tina from Hunting Raven and also managed to get hold of a copy of local author Crysse Morrison's book 'The Price of Bread' which I'm really looking forward to reading!

I then met Lizzie from Elli, Millie from Nook, Cllr Andy Palmer at Meridian Financial Services, Barbara from Part 2, Wendy from Frome Pet Aquatic Centre and Sam from M & S. I'm delighted to tell you they're all doing ok and happy to be open and interacting with their customers. Thanks everyone for taking the time to chat with me.

I actually began my week last week by having Frome Town Council's Project Officers, Helen and Hannah, come and visit where I live to look at a couple of lovely green spaces nearby. They're on the look-out for new places to plants trees and hedgerows as part of Frome's exciting Wild About Trees programme. They're also involved in the Rodden Meadow Engagement– by hosting three engagement sessions to hear the views of the community on how they feel the meadow should be shaped for future generations to enjoy. The first took place on Monday and I popped down to see them. There are two more sessions that will take place at the oak tree in the meadow on:

Saturday 7th November – 9:00am - 1:00pm

Sunday 8th November – 12:00 - 16:00pm. Please come along if you can.

Something that also brought a smile to my face this week was hearing that some lovely volunteers have managed to clear the pathway by the river down at the Retreat. They've ensured that the path is now safe, visible and unobstructed all the way long.

I hope you enjoyed having an extra hour in bed this week when the clocks went back! Please take care everyone, stay safe and have a great week!
