It has been up for sale for a while but now this feed and hay shop, known affectionately as the chicken feed shop in Frome is shutting for good.

Moore & Sons has been running continuously under the same owner for 53 years.

Now the closing bell is going to ring, with a closing sale with half price seeds, 25% off all feeders/drinkers. But it is a lot more than just chicken feed, it is part of Frome's market history.

Frome Nub News spent a very enjoyable morning with the owner talking about the times when the town was chock-a-block with farmers coming to market. HERE Although the sign says Moore & Sons, the business was originally Moore and Toop - the two were in partnership in the 1920s. They fell out and in 1932 the sign was painted over, but after the last ten or 12 years the paint has gradually come off, so the sign was left as was.

Open all day this Sunday January 29 on Christchurch Street West in Frome
