Oxfam is on the lookout for 9,000 volunteers to steward at some of the UK's biggest festivals this summer, offering free entry in exchange for their time. With more festivals than ever before on offer, volunteers can apply from Tuesday, 11 February at 10am—but spaces are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

The line-up of festivals for 2025 includes Glastonbury, Boomtown, Isle of Wight, Boardmasters, Latitude, Reading, and Leeds, among many others. Volunteers are required to work three eight-hour shifts over the course of the festival, with plenty of time left to enjoy the music and atmosphere.

What does an Oxfam volunteer do?

Roles include:

  • Checking tickets and wristbands at festival gates
  • Patrolling arenas and campsites
  • Supporting accessible viewing platforms by the main stages
  • Staffing information points and campsite hubs

In return for their time, volunteers get access to Oxfam's secure campsite, crew-only showers and toilets, free tea and coffee, and a free meal voucher per shift.

Volunteering makes a difference

Last summer, Oxfam's festival volunteers contributed over 213,000 hours of work and helped raise an incredible £1.8 million for Oxfam's poverty-fighting efforts. Volunteers also signed up over 43,000 people for Oxfam's Climate Justice campaign.

Michael Lever, Oxfam's Head of Festivals and Events, said: "We are thrilled to offer people unrivalled access to volunteer with Oxfam at more festivals than ever before this summer. As well as getting to experience a festival for free and see some of the biggest bands out there, Oxfam volunteers meet new people, make new friends, and help make a real difference."

How to apply

Volunteers can apply for as many festivals as they like with just one deposit, which is refunded after their shifts are completed. Those who volunteer at two or more festivals in a season will gain priority status for the following year, increasing their chances of securing a spot at high-demand events like Glastonbury.

Existing Oxfam shop volunteers can also apply to work in the Oxfam festival shop, which raised over £300,000 last year, while campaigning and shop volunteering applications open on 20 February.
