Pet owners in Frome warned to be extra careful after cat left with terrible injury after being shot with a catapult

The police have appealed for help after a cat was shot with a catapult in Mountsfield in Frome over the weekend.

The pet cat was left with what police have called "significant" injury and have released this shocking photo.

The cat was hit yesterday (May 17) and the police are warning other pet owners in the area to be aware.

Back in 2014 another cat was targeted in the same neighbourhood.

Pinkie again suffered terrible injuries and was very near to losing her eye after she was attacked in August 2014.

At the time the owner said she had been told by another neighbour in the area that her pet too had been hit and had not been so lucky.

Of the latest attack the police statement on social media was "

Sadly we attended an incident at Mountsfield, Frome where a pet cat had been shot with a catapult causing significant injury. Please be aware if you have pets and live in the area. If you have any information regarding the incident please call us on 101 Quote ref 5220106753

The cat's owner called the police shortly after 10.15am yesterday (Sunday 17 May) .

A vet later confirmed the animal had been shot with a ball bearing.
