UK petrol price passed £1.40 a litre last week - the highest in almost a decade.

Average forecourt prices are 2.5p a litre from all-time high of April 2012.

According to AA figures, the average price of unleaded petrol is 140.22p a litre, with diesel at 143.42p. But in Frome at the Texaco Portway garage those seemed low; on Friday October 15 Frome Nub News spotted diesel at 147.9.

Diesel wholesale price rose by 10p a litre since mid-September while pump prices have risen by 5p a litre since September, suggesting further increases lie ahead given that they lag the wholesale cost.
