Planning news in and around Frome includes :
The Town Hall team has applied to install photovoltaic solar panels on the roof. The Hall, on Christchurch Street West, has put in an application for 45m2 mounted on an existing roof pitch.
The building is in the Frome Conservation Area but it is not itself a listed building and the application is keen to stress that the layout of the panels has been developed to minimise any visual impact of the installation. The plans are for panels on a secondary roof slope which faces onto Park Street.

Over in Kilmersdon an application is in to fell an Ash tree at 2 Cabbells Mead on Church Street due to Ash die back. Details under Ref. No: 2022/0006/TCA.
In planning decisions made this week by Mendip:
Planners have approved an application to build a two storey side extension and single storey rear extension at 23 Stourton View in Frome. Approved, an application for a single storey rear extension at4 Gentle Street in Frome.
Mendip has approved an application to extend the existing garage and to replace the roof with a pitched roof and roof tiles at The Poplars on the High Street in Buckland Dinham.
Also approved - plans for front and rear extensions at 13 Redland Terrace in Frome.
An application for a non-material amendment to permission 2020/2618/VRC for the brick detailing of the porches for the development at Green Pits Lane in Nunney, has been approved. This is for the Barratt David Wilson South West application for 82 new homes that has already been agreed.
Approval of details reserved by conditions 4 (Access, Parking and Turning Areas) on planning consent 2020/0123/FUL, which is for a 2.5MW micropower plant installation by Rossiter Power on Whitworth Road in Frome.
An application to fell four trees and cut back a Yew tree at Garden House at 30 Fromefield in Frome, has been approved.
An application to fell a Eucalyptus at Birds Cottage on Little Green in Mells, has been approved.
And an application for the development of new commercial premises on the A361/B3090 (Marston Road) in Frome, has been withdrawn. The application, 2021/1422/FUL, was for new, replacement premises for Connor Construction (South West) Ltd who provide road construction and maintenance services to the highways sector.
