Planning news in and around Frome this week.
An application is in to Mendip to site a mobile homes in order to provide chef's accommodation at The Full Moon Inn on Rudge Lane in Rudge.
The building is grade II listed, primarily for its group value with the nearby Baptist Chapel and Chapel Cottage. It first started operating as an Inn in the 17th century and back in 1991 it was a profitable business with holiday lets of 17 rooms and a swimming pool. But as the planning application explains, the Inn became later run down. It has now been bought by a previous owner who wants to renovate the pub and once again create a place for holidaying, albeit on a smaller scale with just seven rooms.
Over in Chewton Mendip on Chewton Hill an application is in to convert and extend an existing barn to create living space for rural workers. That is on land at 360116 153389 Chewton Hill Details under Ref. No: 2022/0874/FUL
In Frome Rowden House at 2 Vallis Road has applied for an extensive list of tree works. Under Ref. No: 2022/0732/TCA. The application is specifically to :T1 Magnolia- Prune to give 1m clearance, T3 Walnut- Crown lift to 2.4m over lawn 5m over driveway, T5 Whitebeam- Crown lift to 5.2m, T9 Cherry- Crown lift to 5.2m, T12 Sycamore- Fell, G4 Sycamore-Fell, G5 Ash x2 Fell, T24 Birch - Prune to give 2m clearance & reduce by 2m , G12 Ash - Fell, T25 Beech- Fell, G14 Holm Oaks group- reduce to historic pollard point, approx. 1.5m, T29 Beech- crown lift & thin reactive growth. The site was surveyed by a team of tree surgeons in April, who made the recommendations.
An application is in for the approval of reserved matters (joinery and damp proving ) on application 2021/2404/FUL at 2 Mount Pleasant on the Bath Road in Beckington. That is a listed building.

An application to vary condition 2 (plans list compliance) on planning approval 2021/0836/LBC to build a steel boundary fence at the Theobald Arms on the Old Road in Nunney, has been approved. The grade II listed Theobald Arms is being converted into a domestic home. The local council Trudoxhill welcomed the change, saying it was an improvement over the previous solid fencing, more in keeping with the area.
Planners have ruled that an application to convert the loft and install roof lights to the front and rear of a property at 22 Avenue Road in Frome is lawful.
Plans to build a first floor extension at Shalamar Harris Vale in Coleford have been approved.
Approved, an application for a single storey rear extension at 8 Mill Lane in Beckington.
