Planning news in and around Frome this week and the plans are in for closing up the NatWest branch on Market Place.

A planning application to get ready for the bank closing in May includes removing the cash machine in the wall outside.

Under reference: 2023/0164/FUL all the details for the building to be changed from a bank are listed and they include taking away signs, boards, fixtures, removing the safes and changing the layout of the three floors inside the building. What is not included is any information of what happens to the building after it is closed.

Wilmotts Transport has put in an application for Approval of details reserved by condition 10 (Badger Survey) on consent 2022/0490/VRC.  The company is based at the business park in Waterlip.

1 Gentle Street Frome has put in an application to put up solar panels on the roof. Details under Ref. No: 2023/0147/LBC . Householders have also applied to install an electric charging point. Ref. No: 2023/0108/LBC

An application is in for tree works at Waterstone House on Horn Street in Nunney, including lifting the crown on a Goat Willow. Ref. No: 2023/0132/TCA

And in Trudoxhill, there is an application in for outline planning permission on land at Holmlea on Foghamshire Lane. Ref. No: 2023/0106/OUT . The site is adjacent to the village hall.

Planning decisions made by Mendip include:

There has been a split decision on approval of conditions 23, 24 and 25 on planning consent 2017/0722/FUL which is for the building work at Wallington Way in Frome - that is the area behind the green boards on Vallis Way . An application is in there to build 64 homes and create business units. One the conditions from planners was that "No dwelling(s) hereby approved shall be occupied until the commercial units have been provided/ constructed on site in accordance with the approved plans. " Now planners have refused condition 25 (Approved Remediation Scheme) on the planning consent, because they have not been given a " Validation Report " which is required prior to occupation.

A plan for a loft conversion at 60 Rivers Reach has been approved.

Plans to make conversions to Oldford Hill House on Cuckoo Lane in Frome, including adapting the driveway and putting in ramps, have been approved.

In Nunney, plans to convert the garage into a bedroom at Nashet House on Ridgeway Lane, have been ruled lawful.

An application to demolish an outbuilding and build a new three bedroomed home on the main Frome Road to Foghamshire Lane in Trudoxhill, have been withdrawn.
