Planning News in and around Frome this week.
Planning applications include:
An application to Extend listed building to form enlarged first floor flat at The Court House at 8 King Street in Frome.
A planning application is in for the Erection of annexe / outbuilding with ancillary use to the main house. at Laurel House Farm on the main Frome Road to Foghamshire Lane in Trudoxhill.
And regarding the application for seven houses, three work spaces and parking at Locks Hill, an application for Approval of details reserved by conditions 2 (schedule and samples of materials) and condition 6 (access and parking plans) on planning consent 2014/2633/REM. Work is at 49 - 51 Locks Hill Frome, Ref. No: 2023/0377/APP
The church of St Mary on Innox Hill in Frome has put in an application for Approval of details reserved by condition 3 (Materials - submission of schedule and samples) on planning consent 2022/1076/FUL Ref. No: 2023/0318/APP
The homeowners of 8 Horn Street in Nunney have put in an Application for a non-material amendment to permission 2020/2067/HSE for the changes to window pattern.
The owners of 2 Wallbridge Avenue in Frome have put in an application for the Erection of two storey extension to side elevation. (Re-submission of 2022/1238/HSE).
Planning decisions made this week in and around Frome.
The retrospective application to build two detached outbuildings at 82 Selwood Road in Frome has been approved. This application had resulted in a lot of objections from local residents, one had written to say they were worried that the buildings could be used as an AirBnB arrangement. They warned : " It appears that people are buying these properties, erecting sheds/dwellings and then selling them on for a profit. "
An application to fell a Holly at 18 Catherine Street has been approved.
An application to fell a Cherry Laurel at 66 Broadway in Frome has been approved.
Also approved, the application to fell a Sorbus at Catherine House on Cork Street. And the application to fell an Ash tree at 9 Laurel Close and a Willow and to cut back a Rowan at 12 Goulds Ground.
While at North Parade applications to reduce the crown height by 8m. T973 (Common Lime) - Reduce crown height by 8-10m. T53 (Yew) - Fell. T0990 (Holly) - Fell. T43 (Ash) - Fell. G3 (Ash & Sycamore Group) - Fell, have all been approved.
And in Rudge, an application for a change of use of land to a Gypsy/Traveller pitch comprising of one mobile home, one touring caravan and associated works (part retrospective), has been approved. That is for land at Rudge Lane and one of the restrictions is that : "The site shall not be occupied by any persons other than gypsies and travellers as defined in Annex 1: Glossary of Planning Policy for Traveller Sites (or its equivalent in replacement national policy). "
Beckington Parish Council had objected saying as far as they knew there were already enough gypsy, Romany and traveller (GRT) pitches in Mendip to meet the Mendip District Council allocation. "Our ward member, her party and many other Mendip District councillors have repeatedly and consistently called upon Mendip District Council (MDC) to address this problem with great urgency. The matter has twice come to full council and we understand has still not been resolved."
