In planning news in and around Frome this week:

The owners 97 Nunney Road Frome have applied to cut back three cypress trees and a laurel hedge at the property .

Ref. No: 2021/0732/TCA

Over in Mells, at Ems Cottage on Top Lane, they have applied to cut back eight Alders - and pollard the top of a Sycamore and an Ash tree.

Ref. No: 2021/0693/TCA

In planning decisions made this week:

An application for approval of details reserved by conditions 3 (Sample Panel - Roofing), 4 (Sample Panel - Walling), 5 (Joinery Details - Submission of Details) and 6 (Ducts, Pipes, Rainwater Goods - Submission of Details) on planning consent 2020/1824/LBC.

29 Goose Street in Beckington, has been approved.

Approved with conditions, an application to vary condition 5 (Temporary Permission) of planning approval 2020/1836/FUL for the change of use of land at 378484 153470 Old School to Bath Road in Woolverton to build a riding arena, install a horse walker and to build temporary an equestrian workers dwelling. Ref. No: 2021/0254/VRC

And on appeal, the re-instatement of access track and gate has been approved with conditions on land at Murder Combe in Whatley near Frome. Details under Ref. No: 2021/0117/FUL

Following a revision of the tree work schedule, a variety of tree pruning and cutting has been agreed for Babington House near Frome.

In the initial application planners were given a tree survey which stated that : " The Grade II listed Georgian manor house and gardens ...contain a significant number of self-set native woodland species of a varying age class and a range of 19th century specimen deciduous and coniferous trees. These trees are set among several lakes within the

grounds, driveways, pathways, various outside facilities as well as the main house and a large collection of outbuildings."

All tree surgery work will be limited until August 31 with planners stating : "No works should be undertaken to trees which would result in disturbance or loss of habitat of nesting birds. "
