Mendip planning decisions this week include:

They have approved a planning application for the shopfront at 1 Eagle Lane Frome, which is a kebab shop, in the central Frome conservation area.

Frome Civic Society had objected to the original plans because of the loss of the traditional timber shopfront, describing plans as " crude and unbalanced." The original application was revised, to remove external lighting and to keep the recessed doorway at the property.

In an original submission, they had also put in that they wanted to extend the opening hours from 12am closing on Saturdays to 2am. After an objection from the Environmental Protection department, which reported that this change would have had a harmful impact on the neighbouring residential properties, this too was removed, leaving only alterations to the shop front.

Planners have approved plans for a single storey rear kitchen extension with pitched lean-to roof at 30 Marleys Way in Frome.

They have also approved a planning application for a front porch and single storey rear extension at 14 Longfield in Mells.

In Coleford an application for a proposed lawful development certificate for six new dropped kerbs and one splay kerb at 31 Beacon View has been ruled lawful.

An application to build four new homes after demolishing an existing home at 22 Frome Road in Beckington, has been withdrawn.
