Planning news in and around Frome this week:

And over at the McDonalds end of Frome, an application for approval of details reserved by conditions 15 (Archaeology and Ensuring Completion of Works (Pre-Occupation) on planning consent 2019/1671/OTS, has been approved.

In the documents, the land, which lies within a space belonging to the Domesday manor of Chaivert (Little Cayford/Keyford) was excavated for possible historical importance back in May 2020. However the report states: " Very few finds were recovered from the site. A total of 28 (267g) struck flints were recovered from across the site, predominantly from ditch [503] and the topsoil and colluvial layers. A further 29 flints were recovered from the site but were subsequently identified as of natural origin and

not human artefacts."

The outline planning for the area is for a "mixed use development" at land North & South of Sandys Hill Lane, Frome, including access off Sandys Hill Lane and the demolition of existing farm buildings/farmhouse and development incorporating up to 235 dwellings, employment space of up to 4,050sqm, a Drive Thru unit of up to 170sqm , a food retail building of approximately 1,800sqm and a non-food retail unit of approximately 1,400sqm.

The owners applied for a change of use from residential care home (use class C2) to single dwellinghouse (use class C3), which will include demolition and alterations to the building comprising a kitchen extension and roof lantern, and construct garage/store outbuilding.

The Old Rectory is on the High Street and the plans were recommended for approval by Nunney Parish Council.

1870's.
