In planning news in and around Frome this week:

Planners in Mendip have approved the plans to alter and change the use of former clinic in the centre of Frome to A3/A4, office and four flats and part former retail to five flats and two offices (Revised scheme received 22/12/2020). That is for the former factory Shop 9-12 Palmer Street in Frome.

Frome Civic Society had expressed their disappointment at the plans, saying that the new homes would not have enough natural light in them, adding: " These are not the kind of homes we should be developing for the future."

Frome Town Council had reconsidered the scheme at their planning meeting in April, after having asked for more information in relation to noise mitigation measures. The letter added : " Our noise objections

have now been addressed by the additional information, however we would still like to see bicycle parking for residents proved as part of the scheme." The site is for the former Former Turning Point offices and was first put into the planning department in April 2019.

There is no objection to an application to prune the over hanging branches of a Persian Silk at 70 Nunney Road in Frome.

Approved - an application to raise the crown on two Sycamores at 4 The Weavers in Beckington near Frome.
