Planning news in and around Frome this week.
Revisions have been submitted to the plans to convert the former Carphone Warehouse in Wessex Fields on Marston Road in Frome into Greggs. Details under Ref. No: 2022/0699/VRC. They have put in a substitute drawing that varies the cladding material to the south west elevation of the building which will match the existing cladding panels which are metallic silver.
An application is in for a replacement, detached garage/workshop at 33 Spring Road in Frome. Details on the Mendip planning site under Ref. No: 2022/0407/FUL. And a five day notice has been put in to fell a Eucalyptus atRagg House on Silver Street in Kilmersdon. Ref. No: 2022/0700/FDN
Planning decisions made by Mendip this week include:
Approved, plans to knock down an existing rear extension and replace with a rear and side extension at 55 Green Lane in Frome.
They have given approval under a Tree Preservation Order to cut back and remove dead wood from an Ash tree at 19A Pedlars Grove in Frome.
Also approved, external and internal alterations to include refurbishment and replacement of windows, replacement of a parapet wall using reconstructed stone, the replacement of external stone balusters and the replacement of external iron railings at 45 Milk Street in Frome.
Approved, plans to alter the roof at the back of 16 Sunnyhill on the Old Road in Nunney. Work will include the removal of the existing dormer and increasing the wall height.
They have ruled that prior approval is not needed to build an agricultural building on land south of Abbotts Moor in West Woodlands Frome.
In case you missed it in early March, housebuilder Persimmon Homes has submitted an outline application for 190 houses on land south of Fossefield Road, Fosse Way, Stratton-on-the-Fosse. Details HERE: the Mendip site The proposed development on land to the east of the A367 is for 133 market homes and 57 affordable homes as well as a children's play area.
And in a decision which may interest those involved in the argument about allowing permanent traveller pitches in Mendip.
Planners have approved an application for land at Beggars Roost on Pylle Road in Pilton near Shepton Mallet for a change of use of land to create one traveller's pitch.
Last year the Local Democracy reporter said that residents near Shepton Mallet claim they now have more travellers living in their area than permanent inhabitants.
The residents of West Compton, a small hamlet of 28 people to the west of Shepton Mallet, have criticised the district council's approach to allocating travellers' pitches across the district, claiming they have been politically discriminated against and victimised" as a result.
