In Rode , the homeowners of 15 Mells Road have applied to build a rear conservatory.

The church in Whatley has put in a planning application. The Church Of St George on the Old Wells Road in Whatley has applied for a Single storey WC extension to east elevation of North Transept

Tan Farm on Common Lane in Holcombe has put in an application for approval of details reserved by conditions 7 (Construction Evironmental Management Plan) on planning consent 2022/0659/FUL.  That is to build a single storey residential dwelling , including a bike and machine store and site a temporary mobile home.

And Monte Alto on Mount Pleasant in Frome has put in an application for the Demolition of existing garage and conservatory & construction of new side extension to left hand elevation.

Planning decisions made by Mendip this week include:

Number 28 Catherine Street in Frome, has been awarded Prior Approval to turn from a commercial premises into a dwelling. That is Change of use from Commercial, Business and Service (Use Class E) to Dwellinghouses (Use Class C3).

Plans to re-pollard a Lime tree at 6 Valley View in Frome, have been given the go-ahead.

Plans for a single story extension to front of building, increased height and re-roofing to the rear of the building and creation of a small garden office space at the end of garden at 2 Lyde Green Lane in Norton St Philip, have been approved.

Over in Commerce Park Acheson And Acheson Ltd have been given approval to expand. The company, which is privately owned supplies premium beauty products across the world and began in 1992. It applied to extend existing manufacturing and logistics facility (Use Class E(g), B2, and B8) along with landscaping works; put in two new loading bays; additional vehicular parking and other associated works including external lighting.

There was some opposition to this application, but not from Frome Town Council who posted: No objection - however we would want to see the footpath upgraded to enable year round use by pedestrians and cyclists. We would also ask that a bus route is investigated and that staff are encouraged to use active and green travel options. We would like to see continued communication with residents to help address their concerns and commend Acheson & Acheson for their efforts towards being a sustainable business and providing local employment.

And in a sign of the times all traces that Barclays Bank ever inhabited the building at 9 Market Place in Wells could soon be removed.

Mendip District Council planners have approved an application to remove signage and the ATM on the outside of the building (and infill with stonework), and to remove all the counters, furniture, fixtures, fittings and equipment inside. The branch closed in August this year.
