Planning news in and around Frome this week : Selwood Garden Community plans are in

Planning news in and around Frome and some big applications, which we have already reported on, are now officially on the Mendip planning board. So being considered by Mendip planners this week:

An application for outline planning permission for the building of up to 1,700 homes, two care homes, 12 hectares of employment land (Use Classes E, B2 and B8), a mixed use local centre for a primary school cafes/restaurant and a convenience store and greenspace and other supporting ancillary works. This is the Selwood Garden Community application.

All matters reserved except for four new vehicular site access points from the existing highway. This is for land South of Frome bounded by Marston Road, the B3092/railway line and the Frome by pass, the A361. Details under Ref. No: 2021/1675/OTS .

An application is in for approval of the layout, scale, appearance and landscaping in regards to Outline Planning Permission 2019/1671/OTS for the development of 198 dwellings for the land North and South of Sandys Hill Lane in Frome. Details under reference: 2021/1659/REM.

Approved by planners, an application for a rear single storey extension and widening of the driveway at 1 Gabriel Close in Frome.

Also approved, the application to fell a Bird Cherry at 65 Oakfield Road in Frome.
