Police in Frome are looking through CCTV to try and discover who was behind the destruction of a piece of artwork at Frome College.

The work, made by students, was to honour Dave Titchner who was at the college for over 34 years.

Finding the wheelbarrow had been set alight there was a huge wave of anger; One posted " This is absolutely unacceptable behaviour. Not only is this incredibly disrespectful, this artwork cost hundreds and hundreds of pounds. Someone out there must know who is responsible for this."

Emma Knibbs- Head of Art at Frome College said when appealing for funding for the artwork had written: " Students, staff working on site and visitors will benefit by remembering the impact Titch had on our school and local community through generations, his legacy and value to be remembered around site for all to see. Students and staff will be able to enjoy the piece of artwork for generations to come.

In addition, taking part in the creation of the artwork and having a part to play in this important project would be an inclusive way of linking students to the history of this site. "

It is understood the piece was set fire too sometime overnight April 11/12.

There is no indication that the fires are connected, but earlier this month the Frome Town Council share box was burnt out at the nearby Showfield. That is the second time the box, used to donate books and seeds to other members of the community, has been targeted.
