Police have put out a statement asking for witnesses to come forward following an assault on two boys in Frome.

Shortly before 3.30pm yesterday (Monday 9 May) officers were called by a member of the public reporting two boys had been physically assaulted by a number of youths at the Welshmill Play Area in Frome.

Officers attended the scene, checked on the victim's welfare and made sure they could return home safely.

The local neighbourhood team is aware of the incident and are planning extra high-visibility patrols in the area as a result.

Enquiries into the assault are continuing and police have asked anyone who witnessed it to call 101 and give the call-handler reference number 5222109515.
