Police have released CCTV images as part of their investigation into a serious assault in Frome which left a 21-year-old man with a fractured skull and a bleed on the brain.

The incident happened in Market Place on Friday, 8th September, when the victim was attacked by several men. He was taken to hospital where he received treatment for his injuries. Fortunately, the man is now recovering, but the assault has left the local community shocked.

The police are now appealing to the public to help identify three men captured on CCTV in connection with the incident. One of the men was seen wearing just a pair of shorts, black trainers, and black socks.

The second man was wearing a black polo neck t-shirt, blue jeans, and dark trainers. The third was dressed in a light t-shirt, knee-length shorts, white socks, and trainers, and was carrying a bag strapped across his chest.

A 20-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm (GBH) but has been released under investigation while further enquiries are conducted.

A spokesperson for Avon and Somerset Police said: "This was a serious assault which left a young man with significant injuries. We're doing everything we can to identify those involved and would ask anyone who recognises the men in these images to get in touch."

Anyone with information is urged to call 101, quoting the reference number 5223218791.

As the investigation continues, police are particularly keen to hear from anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has dashcam footage from the Market Place area on the night of the attack.
