High visibility patrols will be carried out in Frome tonight (September 14) Avon and Somerset police has announced. It follows a disorder involving a large number of young people in Victoria Park yesterday.

A dispersal order is also in place covering the park, enabling officers to direct people to leave the area and not return.

The incidents are reportedly in reaction to a public disorder in the middle of the market place last Friday night. Rival groups of youngsters were fighting around the fountain and one youth was ambulanced to hospital.
