The new children's play area has been created by Newland Homes at its Honey Glade development, and the pupils from Willow class were invited to give it a try to officially open it to the public.

The new play equipment is set within a large area of open space, backing onto an extensive swathe of established woodland. Newland Homes has planted a new area of anniversary woodland around the play area to celebrate its 30th year in business, along with a wildflower meadow to encourage wildlife and biodiversity, creating habitats for a wide range of species including bees.

 Over 40 families already call Honey Glade their home and the sense of community is flourishing.  All the homes at Honey Glade are zero carbon, utilising the latest renewable technology for heat and power, such as air source heat pumps and solar panels, along with high levels of insulation. 

The 4.5 acre brownfield site originally formed part of Barters Farm commercial plant nursery just off the High Street in Chapmanslade. Just one, four bedroom detached 'Sherston' home remains for sale at Honey Glade.  The Sherston is a double-fronted home which looks out over the play area and woodland. 

Pupils from Chapmanslade Primary School had a say in the naming of the 'climate conscious' development, suggesting the name 'Honey Glade' as the village respects wildlife and the honey reference was a 'sweet' choice in their opinion.  The pupils' idea is also referenced in the new street names too, with one of the new addresses being Honey Gardens. 

Older pupils at Chapmanslade Primary School wholeheartedly embraced the offer from Newland Homes to take part in a creative writing competition last year, donning their copywriting hats to write an advertisement for the new homes. Six pupils subsequently visited the Honey Glade showhome with a professional videographer to film their advertisement. Pupils also made bee and bug hotels for the development and the finished articles took pride of place in the showhome garden.
