There are some major roadworks happening close to Frome in the coming weeks.

From today (April 5) until May 2, there are roadworks which will lead to closures around Babington House and down into Kilmersdon. The engineering works are to install three water supply pipes. It is not clear which sections will be closing first with diversions in place from Lipyeate Cross to Luckington.

From tomorrow (April 6) the main road across the top skirting Binegar and Stoke St Michael, the Old Frome Road and the Old Wells Road, will be closed for 21 nights overnight for re-surfacing. The road, which also takes motorists across to Leigh on Mendip, will will also be being diverted during some times in the day for what Somerset Highways calls SCC (Small Improvement Schemes) to carry out various highway improvements including central lining and stud replacement.

Finally, a prior warning in Frome itself, Whittox Lane will be closed from next week, April 12, for Wessex Water to carry out sewer repair works. The road is expected to be closed until April 23.
