This was the picture earlier today (January 12) over on the pathway to the meadows in Frome. Students trying to get past without being soaked as the river in town burst over.

The Environment Agency has revised its alert level warning of flooding for the River Frome and Mells, and the Whatley and Nunney Brooks and tributaries.

This is from their map of the areas of concern.

Elsewhere Travel Somerset is warning of flooding across the road on the B3139 Parsonage Lane/Broadway in Chilcompton urging drivers to take extra care if travelling in the area.

Social media has been full of some remarkable video over in Combe Down.

It comes as the forecast is for more rain, from 9pm tonight (January 12). Then it should be dry for Friday, with another band of rain coming in Saturday.

Further into Somerset the roads are flooded in Dulverton, and the A361 (Burrowbridge to East Lyng) is threatened with another closure. The flood gates remain open for now, but there are warnings that due to further rainfall and assessment on the ground, flooding is likely to mean that the A361 will be closed off at some point this afternoon/evening.

There have been flash floods in Radstock including along Mill Road by the builders merchants and in Midsomer Norton the river close to the sewage works has burst through in several places.
