Countless officials and councillors across Somerset and Mendip have posted their sadness of the news of the passing of Alvin Horsfall, former County, District and Town Councillor, and former Mayor of Frome.

Mr Horsfall was an active councillor and campaigner and represented the Liberal Democrats. He was elected councillor for Keyford in Frome in 2015 and also was an economic adviser for SCC.

He lived in Castle Cary and was Mayor of Frome from 2008-2009. SCC posted : " Our thoughts are with his family."

Independents for Frome said: "We are saddened to hear of the passing of Alvin Horsfall. A former Mayor of Frome, Town Councillor, District Councillor and County Councillor. Our thoughts are with his family and friends."
