The scaffolding has started to be removed from under the Rodden Road rail bridge in Frome, with the works scheduled to be completed and the road opened to traffic from January 31.

The work, on what is a main transport artery across Frome started last year.

Now Network Rail, which was carrying out work on the bridge and discovered more engineering work was needed once they had started the restructuring, has thanked the people of Frome for their patience.

A Network Rail spokesperson said:

"Our work to Rodden Road overbridge in Frome will be completed this Saturday evening (31 January 2021) as scheduled. Some snagging work is likely to be required following the completion, but this is not expected to require any overnight work or road closures.

"We would again like to thank everyone for their patience and understanding while we have undertaken this vital work."

As news came across Frome social media that the scaffolding was being removed today (January 27) many commented with relief.
