A Frome science initiative which offers help to more vulnerable students has a pretty long thank you letter list this Christmas.

As you will recall Frome Nub News shared news of Science Boost a not for profit offering up focused science lessons to students either for free or for vastly reduced costs.

You can read how the teacher and her team gives the gift of education HERE : the Nub News site

First up they have won an award for their work, they have raised over £3,000 to offer free lessons thanks to a Christmas Crowdfunder, including a grant from Sovereign Housing, and secured a number of sponsorships including one from the Nub News much appreciated sponsor Thatcher + Hallam.

Katie Marshall told Nub News : " We'd love to extend our thanks to all those who have supported us this year, it really has been fantastic and we're looking forward to supporting more young people in 2021.

"The final piece of news I'd like to share is that we won an award! Social project of 2020. We're utterly thrilled with this and it's so wonderful to be recognised for our hard work."

The Science Boost thank you list is pretty long :

They have had business sponsorship this year from several local businesses:

Thatcher & Hallam

Katy's Kitchen

Pearn's Tree Services

Clean but Green and a donation from Frome Lions.

If you are interested in business sponsorship Science Boost say they can make use of donations, no matter how small. Sponsoring Science Boost students also demonstrates the generosity and kindness these businesses have towards the more vulnerable members of the community.

In a final piece of good news : They are now taking bookings for our term 3 GCSE Booster class:

Thanks to the sponsorship, we have additional funded spaces available from term 3. The class is also open to students who don't qualify for funding - the cost is £7 per week.
