Congratulations to Sexey's School Year 11 who are celebrating some excellent GCSE results despite two years of a pandemic with schools closing and lessons switching to virtual learning. 85% of all grades at Sexey's School were 9-4 compared to the national figure of 73.2%.

Headteacher Helen Cullen said: "I am so proud of the resilience this group of students have shown. They have worked hard and deserve the grades they are collecting today. This year we are celebrating the best exam results we have seen since I joined the school in 2018 and I am delighted to see the improvements within the school being demonstrated through these excellent results for our students. The GCSE grades will set them in good stead for the next stage in their educational journey and I am delighted that so many have chosen to remain at Sexey's and study their A levels with us."

This year staff and students celebrate an increased number of students gaining grades 9 and 8 in multiple subjects. The top performing students from the cohort are:

  •  Nicole gained 2 grade 9's and 7 grade 8's
  • Romy gained 4 grade 9's and, 2 8's and 3 7's
  • Tilly gained 8 grade 8's
  • Alice gained 2 grade 9's, 4 grade 8's and 2 grade 7's
  • Flora P gained 1 grade 9, 6 Grade 8's and 2 grade 7's
  • John gained 2 grade 9's, 1 grade 8 and 6 grade 7's

As well as students' attainment Sexey's School prides itself in the progress students make from Key Stage 2 to their GCSE's grades and despite two years of interrupted formal education the top students for progress from Key Stage 2 to GCSE are Rishi, Isla, Milo and Phoebe. These students have made fantastic progress due to their hard work and engagement in learning.

Headteacher Helen Cullen thanked the staff for their hard work, inspirational teaching and exceptional pastoral support that has provided the mechanism for these students to gain these excellent results. Helen Cullen went on to say that this group of students benefited greatly from the support from their parents and the collaboration between home and school. Helen thanked the parents for the support they have shown their sons and daughters and the staff at Sexey's School during the last two years.

Ross Dalzell, Deputy Head thanked the Exams Officer, Emma Tomlinson and the Exam Invigilators for the support they gave students during the exam season.
