Snow and ice have caused travel disruption across Somerset.

Roads on higher grounds in Somerset are blocked this morning (Tuesday, January 7) due to snow and ice, causing significant disruption for motorists.

The A37 and A361 are both reported to be impassable, with vehicles struggling to pass through the affected areas.

Heavy traffic has also been reported on the A39 near Wells as snow continues to impact travel.

The A37 Whitstone Road is blocked between Ston Easton and the A361 Charlton Road at Charlton Crossroads in Shepton Mallet. The A361 itself is also impassable between Charlton Crossroads and the B3092 at Feltham.

Further issues have been reported on the A39, which is currently blocked in both directions between Walcombe Lane in Wells and the B3114 Chapel Hill at Green Ore due to snow.

Drivers are being urged to avoid non-essential travel while conditions remain hazardous.
