RSPCA animal rescue volunteers are backing the Big Help Out

Animal charity recruiting Wildlife Friends for national volunteering project

The RSPCA is calling on animal lovers to roll up their sleeves and take action for wildlife as part of The Big Help Out, for King Charles III's Coronation celebrations. 

The RSPCA's Royal connection goes back more than 180 years and the animal welfare charity is proud to be part of the Coronation celebrations.

Opportunities for the Big Help Out launch today (March 20) - and the charity is urging people to sign up to be a 'Wildlife Friend' to join thousands of others making a difference to the animals with which they share their world.

RSPCA chief executive officer Chris Sherwood said: "We all share our neighbourhoods with wonderful wildlife and we need to protect them. Becoming an RSPCA 'Wildlife Friend' is a great way to join with your community to make a safe space for the animals who share your world.

"Everyone can do their bit to help wildlife this Spring and Summer - and by working together, even more animals can be helped."

Suzanne Norbury, from Somerset, says she is pleased she can make an impact on the lives of animals.

Suzanne, 40, said: "My day job sees me behind a desk and on the phone so the chance to get involved hand-on with animal welfare offered a great opportunity to make a difference.

"From transporting musk turtles, to helping hedgehogs, and even delivering pet food bank supplies, it always feels like every hour spent as an ARV is having a positive impact on the lives of animals.

"It's really flexible too, you can lend a hand whenever you have time to spare. It's also a chance to see at firsthand the full spectrum of rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming work done by the charity's teams.

"From the frontline officers investigating cruelty and saving lives to the dedicated teams at rescue centres providing animals with the expert care and priceless compassion to give them the best chance of survival and a happy healthy future."
