Need bar staff, chefs or front-of-house help? Strode College wants to hear from you

If you run a hotel, bar, café or restaurant in Somerset and are struggling to find or train staff – you're not alone. And now, Strode College is stepping in to help.
The college is calling on hospitality employers to join a free event later this month to tackle the ongoing skills shortage and support the sector's recovery and growth.
The Hospitality Employer Skills Forum takes place on Monday 28 April from 4pm to 6pm at Strode Theatre in Street.
Bosses and business owners are invited to share what they need – from apprentices and trained staff to upskilling for existing teams – and learn more about how the college can help fill recruitment gaps with tailored training, pre-employment programmes, and hospitality-focused courses.
The forum will cover roles across the board, including waiting staff, bar staff, receptionists and guest experience. It's open to anyone working in hospitality, travel or tourism – industries which remain vital to Somerset's economy and identity.
A spokesperson said the event is about "making sure Somerset's hospitality sector isn't just surviving – but thriving".
Places are free, but limited, and employers are being urged to register now to secure a space.
