When Frome business owner Simon Moody took over the Shuttercraft Somerset franchise in 2014, he was entering uncharted territory.

The shutter industry was booming in the South East, but other regions like the North, Midlands, and South West were lagging behind.

Somerset's inclusion marked the fifth franchise, sparking a growth that has seen the number swell to 41 independent franchises across the UK.

Based in Shepton Mallet, Moody has not only expanded his business but also devoted time to nurturing local talents and passions, particularly in golf, a sportshe fervently supports. Shuttercraft Somerset currently sponsors the 12th Hole at Yeovil Golf Club and has supported young players at both Yeovil and Mendip Golf Clubs.

In 2023, Moody's attention was captured by an extraordinary young golfer, Aimee Sawyer, who triumphed at the Somerset Ladies County Golf Association event held at Mendip Golf Club.

Sawyer's story is a beacon of inspiration for young sportswomen and anyone facing significant challenges. Her goal is to turn professional, a dream supported by Shuttercraft Somerset.

Her journey is currently being showcased on the Sky Sports show 'England Golf – Get Into Golf,' hosted by Nick Doherty. Watch her story here: Aimee Sawyer on Sky Sports.
