Summer of live performance continues for Frome

By Guest 8th Jul 2021

The Merlin Theatre is happy to announce that their summer events programme, in partnership with Frome Festival, is proving to be a triumphant, and safe, success for everyone already.

With the Merlin Theatre's outdoor amphitheatre and indoor events having so far delivered comedy, poetry and music as well a Hollywood movie with Bluegrass, the popular town venue still has the following Frome Festival events waiting in the wings.

The Fabulous Red Diesel Band will bring a riot of soaring jazz melodies to the ECOS amphitheatre tonight (July 8). Predicted 19 degrees and dry, bring your picnics.

Hot on their heels is a band who are fast becoming recognised as one of the most unique and entertaining sounds on the touring scene. Rob Heron and The Tea Pad Orchestra, already known for their performances at Glastonbury, Bestival, Cambridge Folk Festival, Radio 4's Loose Ends, bring their quirky, skiffle-influenced, swing style to the South West all the way from Newcastle. They will play one night only tomorrow (July 9).

The theatre's remaining Festival activities include open short-story and fiction events and a visit from the hilarious George Egg whose show, Moveable Feast on July 10, is a gently anarchic performance with live cooking taking place on stage. A sell-out Edinburgh Fringe Festival act, George Egg is a unique entertainer and certainly not one to miss.

A spokesperson for the Merlin reminds visitors, "We are currently implementing a 50 per cent capacity policy for seating, in accordance with official guidelines. The Merlin is all about feeling good, not anxious and it is very important to us that our amazing volunteer stewards, the professional performers and the audience all feel safe so we urge people to book ahead and arrive early to be seated comfortably."

Details of all show dates, times, prices and tickets can be found at www.merlintheatre.co.uk.
