Following positive feedback on sessions held in 2021, Frome Medical Practice is hosting two new sessions for young people (aged 11-18) where there's an opportunity to discuss anxiety and depression.

Mental Health Nurse Practitioner at the practice, Brice, will lead the sessions and said, "We recognise that more and more young people are feeling stressed and anxious right now, so we are offering these sessions to help young people manage how they might be feeling. "

"The last few years have been difficult for everybody and taking time out to look after ourselves and our mental health is more important than ever. We are offering two online sessions, which young people can take part in anonymously. Any questions or things people want to say to me during the sessions can be done via a chatbox."

The sessions will focus on emotional skills to support young people in managing anxiety and depression. There will also be time to talk about how young people can seek additional support outside of these sessions.

Brice said, "Through the course of the two sessions we will talk about topics such as managing panic and anxious thinking, what can make us feel low and self help strategies for improving our mood. We'll also talk about what additional support is available for young people and how they can reach out for help."

The dates of the sessions, which will take place online, are as follows;

  • Session 1 - Tuesday 11th October 4-6pm
  • Session 2 - Tuesday 18th October 4-6pm

To join in with the sessions, young people need to register to take part and then the day before the first session they will be sent an email with instructions on how to join in.
