The campaign to get proper banking services including paying in cash back to Frome has found a new possible option.

Campaigns had hoped to get a banking hub in Frome - but the number of cash points in the town means it does not qualify for a hub.

Prosper Frome has come across a new solution being rolled out in parts of Scotland and the North East through One Banx https://onebanx.com/.

This small company has taken advantage of the open sourcing of bank IT technology in 2019 and developed a kiosk which allows access to all banks, and provides for the paying in and paying out of cash and change, all linked to the relevant bank account.

The whole solution does not require financial regulation.

Prosper Frome is keen to garner support for piloting this approach in Frome. In some places it has been placed in Coop supermarkets, in other places in building societies – but it could also form the basis of a community hub offering other services too.

They are invited everyone to a meeting with Duncan Cockburn, the CEO and Founder of OneBanx October 3rd in the chamber at Frome Town Council, 6-7pm.
