The most iconic pub in Frome IS open : The Lamb and Fountain opens its beer garden

Even in a place with cobbled streets, nearly 400 listed buildings and independent shops the like of which you will not see anywhere else, Frome's Lamb and Fountain pub is one of a kind.

Today (April 12) it re-opened its beer garden and with the sun struggling to warm up the day it was definitely time for the clientele to wear coats.

But it was busy, open from 11am and with all the tables as far as Frome Nub News could see, taken when we went past just after 2pm.

Several pubs in the centre of Frome have not re-opened because they do not have enough outdoor space.

But the Lamb and Fountain, although it has one of the smallest indoor spaces in Frome, has a big garden and access from behind the pub.

The pub itself dates from around 1785, and is on Castle Street in Frome, although the address was once known as Fountain Lane, named after the inn itself.

Described on the real ale web site as a pub without frills, it is a firm favourite with Frome locals, perhaps because of that no nonsense approach.
