The bin at Wessex Fields alongside the town's two fast food restaurants was overflowing this lunchtime (June 30) - much to the delight of the local sea gulls.

The littering has been a sourced of a huge amount of anger on social media, with some Frome locals trying to get the brands involved, made responsible for the litter.

It comes as another campaign has started - nationwide - to get McDonalds and Kentucky Fried Chicken to list the number plates of those who buy their food on the till receipts.

They could then be tracked if the litter was found to be theirs.

The on-line petition, which over 50,000 people have already signed is here: the Change dot Org site

In the biggest study of littering across the UK, held by Keep Britain Tidy, McDonalds packaging was named as one of those most found in a litter pick.
