Frome's Merlin Theatre
Frome's Merlin Theatre

Frome's Merlin Theatre is seeking a new Treasurer to join its Board of Directors. The theatre, established in 1975, in addition to its 240 seat auditorium, boasts one of the country's few working outdoor amphitheatres and is renown as both a professional receiving-house for national touring companies as well as for producing its own high-quality community productions.

The current Treasurer will step down after 17 years in the role, but will be on hand to offer guidance with a full handover period at this popular arts venue, home of numerous Frome Festival events each summer and always busy during school terms with regular classes and workshops in drama and dance.

Working with the Artistic Director and Volunteer Finance Manager, the role will include overseeing the financial affairs of the organisation (a registered charity), ensuring all practices are legal and within accepted accounting practice and monitoring and reporting on the financial health of the organiastion.

Knowledge and experience of finance practice relevant to voluntary and or community/charitable organisations is desirable; knowledge of bookkeeping and financial management is essential. The Merlin uses the accounting software Xero.

If you have the expertise and time to support this vibrant and much-loved community asset and would like a more detailed job specification please email [email protected] or call on 01373 461360 for a chat.
