Thousands raised by donations at the Frome Glow In the Park event

Frome Nub News understands that over £4,000 was raised for charity during the stunning Glow In the Park drone event on Saturday.

They are still counting the coins and the on-line donations, but the generosity of those at the event. The Rotary Clubs of Frome were collecting donations on the evening on behalf of local charities including Active and In Touch, The Pod, Fair Frome and Frome's Missing Links.

Thousands of people watched as Frome-based Celestial lit up the skies with an out of this universe display with a fleet of 256 drones. There has been wide-spread praise for the event, which also marked the town's Apple Day, with fans watching on social media from as far afield as Australia and New Zealand.

The show to also featured a poetry reading and soundtrack and was described as a "Cosmic event for all the family " drawing on ancient Somerset heritage and apple themes.

The drone display was supported by the UK Arts Council.
