A retrospective application for the side of the shop launderette at The Spar at Rodden Road will be discussed at tonight's planning meeting of Frome Town Council.

It is just one of the items on the agenda at the meeting at 6.30 pm in Frome Town Hall.

Details include the fact that the laundry kiosk, manufactured in France, and the company which runs the operation promises : "The laundrette unit is designed to be maintenance-free and is served by a network of over 150 local engineers who aim to attend to any breakdowns within 24 hours. "

It also claims to use less power and less water than conventional washing machines.

Other planning applications to be considered by councillors include some work on the front of the Nationwide Building Society.

They will also be looking at an application for a caravan studio at West End in Frome - which led to this as a comment from a councillor, "I don't have any objection to the planned outbuilding but why on earth is it being described as a 'Caravan Studio'? Studio yes, cabin yes, shed yes, even workshop yes... but Caravan no. I was under the impression that a caravan possessed wheels. "
