Members, staff and volunteers alike will all be getting their walking shoes on this August to take part in OpenStoryTellers' new summer fundraiser Trek2Taffy.
The well-known Storyteller, and very first Storytelling Laureate, Taffy Thomas is Patron of OpenStoryTellers. He works as an ambassador for the Frome based learning disability charity, from his home in Cumbria. Trek2Taffy will see the OpenStoryTellers team walking the 400 miles from 'Cornwall to Cumbria' during the month of August.
The walkers will do lots of treks in Frome and their local areas, to complete the 400 mile route. OpenStoryTellers' team of Storytellers who have learning disabilities and autism will be telling stories from landmarks en route to Cumbria, to keep you entertained along the way! You will be able to hear these on their Facebook page – www.facebook.com/OpenStoryTellers
Taffy Thomas himself will also tell a story, when the team reach their 400 mile target.
Trek2Taffy will raise much-needed funds for the charity that supports around 50 people with learning disabilities, autism and complex needs each year, to find their voice and use it.
People with learning disabilities have been disproportionately affected by the Covid-19 pandemic, being up to six times more likely to suffer worse outcomes as a result of the virus. As we navigate our recovery from the pandemic, the charity is seeing a significantly greater demand for their creative and innovative work.
OpenStoryTellers would be delighted if you would be able to support their work and make a donation - by clicking HERE : Local Giving site
Donations of £25 or more will receive a hand-made postcard from OpenStoryTellers' members as an extra special thank you!
