Frome's Deputy Mayor has guested on a most unusual radio show.

Andy Wrintmore was on the Trash or Treasure show - where guests decide on whether to keep - or junk - a random selection of tunes.

Andy himself is a musician, playing drums for the punk band the Sick Ones and told them he is "not a politician" but " a man of the people."

The show is the brainchild of broadcaster Eleanor Talbot who told Nub News: " Andy is certainly a character and a fun guest."

The show airs on MTRI every Tuesday at 6am, 2pm and 10pm and is about to hit its fiftieth birthday. You can listen on catch up by clicking HERE: the MTRI site

Eleanor told Nub " Every week I curate music that relates to a chosen theme, be it love, cars, revolution or robots.

"I also do guest interviews, anything from musicians, authors, activists, etc. Usually the interviews are tied into the theme.

"Every so often I have a show called 'Trash or Treasure' where I invite guests to judge records I found in the charity shop or mining YouTube. It's often a trip down the "rabbit hole" as you never know what I will play next. Listeners are invited to send in requests and ideas for themes to: [email protected]. I welcome feedback."

At various parts of the programme Andy, as judge and jury, of the musical melody gave his verdict on offerings from Tupac and Johnny Cash.

Eleanor added: " Andy is a diplomat and did not soundly trash any of the pieces I picked... although he tried to be kind about the song, 'Vennu Mallesh: It's My Life What Ever I Wanno Do'. That song is infamous as being 'cringe pop.' Cringe pop being a genre of intentional bad music; the music and music videos are described as being "so bad that you can't stop watching them.

" He LOVED the Band's (featuring the Staple Singers) song called the Weight. Hardly surprising as it's a critical success as well as an established classic."
