Two fire crews extinguished a blaze at the Valley Sawmills site in Holwell this afternoon.

At about 12.45pm, Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service was called to a report of a fire at Valley Sawmills.

Crews from Frome and Shepton Mallet attended this incident along with supporting officers. On arrival crews confirmed this was a single storey building measuring 20 metres by 30 metres used as a saw mill.

The fire was involving an extraction unit and an extraction building measuring five metres by five metres of steel and timber construction.

The saw mill was slightly damaged by fire and another external extraction unit measuring 10 metres by five metres was destroyed by the blaze.

It was extinguished using two breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one main jet and thermal imaging camera. The cause of the fire was accidental.
